Cut Stone and Wood

Derek specialises in blending new work with existing stone and wood to give an ambient appearance to properties, this is important with country properties as the local authorities are keen to preserve the environment.

This property was derelict with only two-thirds of the wall still intact, the walls were rebuilt using available stone, the pillars that hold up the roof are made from reinforced concrete for extra stability then faced with stone to give the appearance of a traditional stone pillar. The photograph shows that the contrast of wood and stone blends the property into the surrounding area whilst at the same time bringing back into use a historic building.
