Cut Walls Built

This is a double style wall, on the outer side of the land there is a traditional cut face wall and the inner is a traditional style Spanish dry stone wall. The effect from the inside blends the wall into the existing landscape, whilst the outer wall presents a formal entrance to the property.

this style of building presents the wall with a clean straight appearance, and is generally used to create a formal effect, if wanted these walls can be mortared for reinforcement to give greater stability, and prevent damage from rain and local wildlife.

Every individual stone is cut to create a straight face then inserted into the wall, this means the time to construct the wall is longer than the standard Spanish dry stone wall. The client can choose whether to go for the rustic look or create feature walls that are distinguishable from other walls.

These walls were built as part of a larger project over a twelve month period; working with local artesans we created paddock areas and boundary walls for vineyards, Los Hoyes Construction have built over 500 metres of wall with varying heights and widths. The work is on land adjacent to Los Hoyes and the full project can be viewed. Derek works on the maintenance of the walls as local wild boars often move some of the larger stones.
